What We Offer

SHARE offers two non-assignment classes and two complete curriculum classes for grades K-6th every Tuesday.

COURSE OVERVIEW

NON-ASSIGNMENT CLASSES

These two classes do not include additional assignments given for them to complete at home during the school week.

ART

The art classes in both the K-2 and 3-6 grades do qualify as a full curriculum class, however, no weekly assignments are given to complete at home outside of the Tuesday class day.

K-2 Art:  Students will be introduced to the elements of art using different mediums and creating art projects in a hands-on and developmentally age-appropriate way. We will observe several well-known masterpieces for inspiration, as well as tie in some wonderful children's literature and illustrations to enhance our art lessons. God is the ultimate Master Artist, and since we are made in His image, we know He has created us to create!

3rd-6th Art: This class builds on the foundation set in K-2. Drawing lessons are the primary focus, learning the basic foundations of drawing. Different mediums are used and focused on each year, such as acrylic paints, watercolor paints, oil pastels, chalk pastels, and sketch pencils. Basics in clay and various crafts are also a part of class. Each year various famous artists are introduced, sometimes coordinating with the lessons students have in history. No weekly homework is required outside of class, with the exception of  the end-of-the-year art competition, for which participation is mandatory.

MATH ENRICHMENT

The math enrichment classes are designed to enhance their learning experience, expose them to new skills,  help to reinforce basic math skills, and make math fun! This is NOT a full-curriculum class, with outside assignments, that is to take the place of their yearly math requirement. This is purely an enrichment class.

K-2 Math Enrichment: Math will be a series of games and activities that encourage the kiddos to fall in love with math.  As home-educators we all know that you either love it or you don’t.  We want to help them love it.  We will incorporate critical thinking and also practice activities in listening and following directions. These are always great activities to practice and will hopefully help them grow as students. NOTE: This is an enrichment class only. You will need to provide a separate and complete math curriculum for your at-home schedule that meets your homeschool requirements, matching your child's grade level and ability.

3rd-6th Math Enrichment:  Our class focuses on building students’ confidence in math by showing them how much fun math can be. We play a lot of group and partner games that are both fun and educational. We also work on timed math facts each week, setting weekly goals for themselves, which helps them learn and/or reinforces the direct link between the amount of time they spend practicing and how quickly they memorize their math facts. In order to show that math is needed and used in our everyday lives, a few concepts that we cover are distance, time, money, and food measurements. NOTE: This is an enrichment class only. You will need to provide a separate and complete math curriculum for your at-home schedule that meets your umbrella school's homeschool requirements, matching your child's grade level and ability.

COMPLETE CURRICULUM CLASSES (WITH WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS)

Two full-curriculum classes, with weekly assignments to be completed at home, are offered in the SHARE weekly schedule, with the option to add on an IEW writing course for 5th and 6th graders at the end of the normally-scheduled day. Full-curriculum means that everything needed for a grade appropriate 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade geography or science course will be provided through SHARE, with the K-2nd grades being stepped towards the transition to the upper elementary levels. Full-curriculum courses cannot be completed in one day, so there will be required class work outside of the SHARE day. There are typically 3 days of work assignments each week for the 3rd-6th grades, 1-2 days of minimal work for 1st-2nd, and no required assignments for kindergarten, although there will be optional assignments given. Weekly assignment checklists are provided for the 3rd-6th grade classes, so they not only know what is expected of them, but will also serve the purpose of training your students in scheduling their weekly work and time management skills. In order for your student to get the most out of these provided classes, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that the assignments are broken up and integrated into your at-home school schedule throughout the week and NOT completed in one sitting the night prior to class.

GEOGRAPHY

At SHARE, we follow a 4 year History/ 2 year Geography rotation. The Geography cycle enhances the History course by helping the students to place historical events they learn in the correct location in the world.  For the 2025-2026 school year, we will be in our 2nd year of Geography, reviewing previously learned continents and then focusing on South America, Asia, Oceania, and Antarctica. However, every year can stand alone, and does not require the previous year of Geography! We will have an overview of each continent, but dig deeper in a few countries in each of these continents, where appropriate, learning about geography, culture, foods, and history.

SCIENCE

We will be exploring the fundamentals of biology for the 2025-2026 school year. The SHARE science program is custom-designed for our tutorial. All classes, K-6th, will cover the same basic or similar topic (adjusted to grade level) each week so that siblings can share in their science learning experience throughout the year. Reading lessons, labs, weekly assignment checklists, and other materials are researched, written, and provided, in printed form, each week, as well as an audio recording of the reading lesson for 3rd-6th grades provided on the class webpage. Lab notebooks for 3rd-6th are also provided and will be used weekly. Kindergarten has no required weekly assignments, although it is provided for you if you choose to engage further. First and second grade classes have a minimal 1-2 days of assignments, in a very simplified pattern of the older classes, so that they are stepped towards making the transition to 3rd-6th grade.

Class time is typically spent introducing the lesson, engaging in class discussions, observing demonstrations, and/or participating in hands-on lab activities. Take-home lab kits are provided on occasion. Our goal is to expose our students, over a four-year rotation, to the basics of all aspects of science and to layer this knowledge each cycle, as they grow, in order to prepare them for the middle school and high school science requirements. Our SHARE science mission is to guide students to reclaim their curiosity about God's Creation, put the "fun" in the fundamentals, and to foster a deeper understanding of the undeniable design of all that He has made.

Our Four-Year Science Cycle:

Year 1: Fundamentals of Chemistry and Physics We take a look at the smallest parts that make up God's creation and how it all moves and is held together with a study of things such as matter, atoms, the Periodic Table, molecules, physical and chemical changes, simple machines, force/motion, energy, light, sound, heat, magnets, and STEM)

Year 2: Fundamentals of Earth Science A study of three main parts of our earth system of the geosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. We look at things such as the layers of earth and the atmosphere, weather, seasons, rock and water cycle, fossils, landforms, erosion, natural disasters, the solar system, and the universe as a whole)

Year 3: Fundamentals of Biology This year we will focus on the fourth part of the earth system, the biosphere. We will start with the criteria for what makes something a living thing, then move to the specifics of cells, metabolism (energy), taxonomy/classification system, exploring the six kingdoms of life, discovering the biodiversity of the animal kingdom, and end with a unit on human body systems.

Year 4: Fundamentals of Ecology and Zoology Year 4 is the culmination of the previous three years of study to focus on how the four parts of our earth system interact to function as one uniquely-designed Creation and our responsibility to take care of it. We will explore each ecosystem and learn its characteristics, food webs/chains, keystone species, animal and plant groups and their relationships, as well as its threats, benefits, and what needs to be done to protect them.

IEW WRITING COURSE (ADD-ON)

(This class is recommended for 5th and 6th graders only. If there is available space, 4th graders may be allowed, after an assessment.)  This is a writing course that focuses on the structure and style of writing. It teaches students to communicate in a way that is easy to read while keeping the reader engaged. The course does not focus on Grammar or Spelling but will incorporate a little of each. Vocabulary is included, along with literature. IEW is encouraging and provides an assignment checklist that allows students to know exactly what is expected. This enables all levels of writers to excel. It is a good class for beginners as well as more experienced writers. The class will teach students to organize thoughts and get them on paper. Parents are expected to participate in the editing process of their assignments. A 1-week bootcamp is mandatory for first-time students before SHARE begins in order to take this course.
